ASUS M5A99X EVO AMD Motherboard – A Class Apart

 

 

The M5A99X EVO happens to be one of the latest offering from the Taiwan based technology superstar, equipped with AMD latest 9- series chipsets. The launch of the product was being speculated in the market as the company’s strategically carried out pre-emptive strike on AMD, which has been planning to unveil a series of brand new APUs and CPUs in the foreseeable future. And if it was really so, the Asus has succeeded upto a great extent, as the M5A99X, in our opinion, is one monster of a products. And combined with the decent price-tag of R1,800 (or so) that it comes along with, the product is truly capable of providing end-users with a pretty solid computing experience at an affordable price.

The M5A99X EVO is compatible with almost all the leading processors floating around in the market at present, including the likes of the AMD AM3+ FX/Athlon™ II/Sempron/Phenom II 100 Series Processors. The supported memory type is 4 x DIMM (maximum capacity of 32 GB), DDR3 1066 to DDR3 2133.

 

 

The BIOS version is ASUS UEFI, the Flash ROM belonging to the 32 MB category. Another aspect that you will probably won’t mind having is a handful of USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports. While there are as much as 14 USB 2.0 ports ( 6 at the front panel, and 8 at the back), the number of USB 3.0 ports stands at 4 (2 at each front and back panels). The other connectivity features are pretty much the same ones that you usually come across in a product within this range-- there is a PS/2 mouse combo interface, one eSATAinterface, one RJ 45 LAN port, 2 IEEE 1394a ports and so on. 

 

 

From the power-consumption point of view also, the M5A99X is capable of doing a pretty neat job. Compared to most other products within its range, the product is capable of functioning at its best even with a considerably low power-consumption rate- both when on load, as well as when idle.

 

 

And when it comes to issues such as overheating and other similar hazards, well, from our experiences with the M5A99X, we can pretty much claim that it is pretty much immune from all those miseries, at least in comparison to an overwhelming majority of its competitors.
