ASUS Sabertooth 990FX AMD Motherboard – Unbelievable performance at affordable price

 

 

With the launch of the product, AMD will obviously manage to strengthen its foot-hold in the new 8-core CPU market. Needless to say, the technology, which needs to be fed with AM3+ sockets, brings along with it the demand for motherboard manufacturers to come up with new, upgraded products for supporting its enhanced capabilities and requirements.

 

 

And, just as always, Asus has responded to the call by coming up with multiple products that perfectly fits into the AM3+ era with their newer and more sophisticated offerings-- the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX being one of them.

 

 

 

The ASUS Sabertooth 990FX happens to be another part of the TUF (The Ultimate Force) family lineup of motherboards. The TUF motherboards are known for the extensive tests under varying conditions they go through before being finally dished out for end-users. the 990FX is no exception in that trend either.

 

 

Look wise the product is pretty cool. It comes in a black colored box with the product name printed in bold, along with the TUF logo which is located at the upper left corner. The form factor is pretty much standard at 12 inch x 9.6 inch ( 30.5 cm x 24.4 cm ).

 

The 990FX is compatible with the AMD3+ FX/Athlon II/Phenom II/Sempron 100 Series processors. It also supports upto 8 cores, 140 W as well as AM3+ 32nm CPUs.

 

 

The supported memory types are 4 X DIMM (max of 32GB), DDR3 1066/1333/1600/1866 MHz. Also, the 990FX is compatible with ECC, Non-ECC, and Un-buffered Memory Dual Channel Memory Architecture.

 

In the storage department, the product brings along with it 6 SATA 6Gbps ports, whereas the supported Raid are 0,1,5,10.

 

 

When it comes to gaming, the Sabertooth 990FX can safely claim to be one of the bests available in the market within the mid-range category.
