It’s been a while now since Corsair Memory emerged as a leading name amongst hardware enthusiasts, especially when it comes to memory modules. However, more recently, it has been seen that the company is shifting its priority to other hardware devices as well- be it new coolers (e.g. the H50/A70 series), chassis (e.g- 800D) or even SSDs, Corsair is strengthening its foothold over different corners in the hardware market at a rapid pace, and the success so far has been overwhelming.
Amongst the latest products coming from the company, the Corsair AX1200 high performance gaming power supply has created quite a bit of hype in the market. So, let’s have a closer look today at some of the highlighting aspects of this 1200 watt power supply, and find out if it’s really worth the fame and reputation it has bagged so far within the tech community.
Look-wise, the AX1200 can be termed as more on the satisfactory part with its black finished design and a touch of white and gold branding that gives it a trendy and sophisticated look. The rear end of the product carries the usual 3-pin socket as well as a big on/off switch. Over the opposite end, you can find the modular socket for the power supply unit. For allowing end users the ease of use, Corsair labeled the sockets and connectors precisely.
Inside the casing, you will find the detailed information of the 14 cm, 4-pin connector fan manufactured by Yate Loon. This DC 120V/0.7 amp, 7 blade model with 2800 rpm (max) and 140 CFM airflow, works pretty fine according to our evaluation.
Corsair has also incorporated a couple of, what we would like to term as “heavy technologies” to beef up the overall performance of the product- firstly, the individual DC-DC regulation methodology for 12V, 5V and 3.3V rails equipped with synchronous rectification (secondary side), and then there is this Zero Voltage Switching, Zero Current Switching feature which increases the efficiency-level quite remarkably by reducing the heat wastage.
Another highlighting aspect of the Corsair AX1200 80+ GOLD rated modular Power supply, in our opinion, is that it can boast off a single +12 volt rail - 100.4 A, (1204.8 watt), which can easily handle a multi-GPU set up, as well as new-generation CPUs with high configuration.
To prevent any severe damage to your CPU/other hardware in the event of serious power-flaws, Corsair has done a decent job by including some pretty effective shields against over-current-flow and over-voltage situations. Also, there is an extra protection-shield against over-heating which ensures that in case of a failure that ends up increasing the temperature abnormally, the unit will go on an auto-shutdown mode and thus, block any potential harm to your system resources.

Some other important specs that the product can boast off include PFC Stage (for effective and reliable voltage regulation), EMI/Input Rectifier Stage, as well as the DC-DC Convertor Stage. Overall, in our opinion, the AX1200 is powerful and sophisticated enough to deserve its place in the must-have section on your tech-inventory. The price is a bit high, no doubt about that, but considering what you are getting in terms of power, reliability and high-efficiency, the Corsair 1200AX is certainly worth spending a few extra bucks if your budget allows you to. Corsair AX1200 80+ GOLD Modular Gaming PSU is the best ever we tested.
