Water cooling of your PC is far more simpler today than it was ever before, a quick look at the list of vendors, providing liquid CPU cooling products will help you understand the fact. Unlike the previous long, hectic methodology of careful planning and an overall evaluation of your requirements prior to installation, followed by the painful installation process itself, the newer technologies are far more effective and easier to deploy. However, with this rapid advancement in the technology, more and more manufacturers are embracing liquid CPU coolers in their inventories, and Corsair being no exception in the trend. The Fremont, California based memory-module champions recently launched its brand new H100 series of water cooler, and this is the product we are going to have a closer look today- so if you were looking forward to pamper your PC by introducing a brand new water cooling solution, get aboard- the Corsair H100, on first look, appears quite appealing to us.
Off late, we have seen and reviewed a wide spectrum of liquid CPU coolers, and a majority of them quite typically featured less-complicated 120 mm radiator, with one or a maximum of two fans. These designs, needless to say, added a great deal when it came to easy affordability and a far simpler installation process. But as we can expect from the geniuses at Corsair, the company opted to go one step ahead of the trend and chose to blend all the easier installation and maintenance features provided by the 120 mm radiator, with a better and more advanced 240 mm one.
The dimensions of the product stand at (L) 275mm x (W) 122mm x (H) 27mm. Like most of the other products within its range, the H100 also features a nice combo of Copper Micro-Channel CPU Fluid Heat Exchanger/ Aluminium Radiator.
The size of the fan is 120 mm x 25 mm, with a speed of 1300-2500 revolutions per minute. The air flow and the noise levels stand at 46-92 CFM and 22-39 dBA respectively.
It is compatible with almost all of the leading CPU sockets, including Intel’s LGA 2011, LGA 1366, LGA 1156, LGA 1155, LGA 775 as well as AMD’s AM2, AM2+ and AM3.
And when it comes to the cooling aspect, the H100, undoubtedly can be placed leagues ahead than most of its competitors- at least that's what we felt like.
So, to sum it up, the Corsair H100 has done a pretty impressive design according to our evaluation. One problem still remains though- its compatibility with different CPUs from different vendors, no doubt, is pretty wide, but when it comes to compatibility with CPU cases, the product suffers from some serious drawbacks there. Corsair, in our view, should have paid some extra attention to this. But, overall, a pretty good, reliable and safe product to invest on. Certainly deserves four out of five on our rating-scale.
