The Evetech Core i5 Overclocked 4.5GHZ GTX 570 SLI gaming PC is an impressively spec'ed system. The Intel Core i5 2500K, which would usually run at 3.3GHz, has been overclocked to 4.5GHz and is kept cool by a Noctua NH-D14. This is an impressive result for 24/7 overclock. Evetech could have used a more expensive board to achieve a higher overclock but this probably would have netted a 2000MHz extra for about R1000 to R2000 more.

The Motherboard is a Gigabyte P67A-UD4P which Evetech has said will to changed to a P67A-UD4P B3 by the time of going to print. The B3 version of this motherboard will have the revised version of the P67 chipset san the SATA PLL issue. Evetech has thrown in four 2GB sticks of G-Skill DDR3-1600 low latency low voltage RAM which uses only 1.35v and have timing of 7-8-7-24.The storage responsibily are split between a GSkill Phoenix Pro 60GB SSD and a Western Digital Black Caviar 1TB SATA6 HDD. Surprisingly, the hard drive(which supports SATA6Gps)is not plugged into the SATA 6Gbps port on the board but rather into a SATA 3GbPS port.

The Core i5 Overclocked 4.5GHZ 570 SLI has two Gainward GTX570 Phantom edition graphics card inside, and they deliver excellent performance in tests. These cards are factory overclocked and have custom coolers which help to keep noise down. The cable for the PSU and for the chasis itself have been neatly hidden from view in a fashion that would impress even the most fastidious of modders. this excellent cable neatening is doulble justified in the Antec LanBoy AIR. The mesh panels make for excellent air flow as well as exposing the innards of the chasis to a level that would make R2D2 blush.

The Evetech core i5 overclocked 4.5GHZ GTX 570 SLI has a price tag of 16,700. It seems like a lot of money until you price the parts separately. Bought individually, they come to R20,800 which makes buying the pre-bulit system a very attractive offer. Performance-wise the Evetech PC does not dissapoint and -thank to its dual GPUs and latest generation CPU- it wipes the floor with our againg AMD and Intel test rigs.

The price and performance of this machine makes it a very tempting proposition. It might be a modder faux pas to a buy a pre-built pre-built pre-overcloked gaming PC, but at this price it's difficult to not swallow pride and pull out the credit card.

PCFormat Verdict:

  • Amazing performance
  • Excellent assembly
  • Reasonably price
  • Great components

A machine that not only delight with its performance but also astounds with its price.
