An upgrade kit is a platform change rather than a component swap. Ryzen 9 processors in the current 9000 family sit on AMD's AM5 socket, which pairs with DDR5 memory and a newer board generation than the AM4 machines many South African builders are still running. The processor, the board and the memory therefore move as a group, while most of what sits downstream of them stays exactly where it is.
The rest of the decision is physical and administrative: whether your existing cooler mounts, whether the board fits the case you already own, and what happens to your Windows activation once the motherboard identity changes. Settle those three before ordering and the installation itself is an afternoon's work.
