The parent company started in Hong Kong in 2001 making connectivity hardware for other brands, and launched Unitek under its own name in 2006. The range grew from simple USB 1.0 hubs into USB4 docking stations moving 40 gigabits a second, and the design brief never really changed: solve one connection problem properly and stay out of the way.

Almost everything in the catalogue does one of three things, and knowing which one you need is most of the buying decision.
Connect
Turn one port into several. A hub splits a single USB-C or USB-A connection into ports for a drive, a keyboard, a card reader and a display, drawing its power from the host or from its own supply.
Convert
Bridge two standards that do not speak to each other. USB-C to HDMI, USB to gigabit ethernet, USB-C to legacy USB-A. The conversion happens in a chipset inside the adapter, which is why quality varies between outwardly identical dongles.
Extend
Carry a signal further or faster than the built-in port manages. High-bandwidth display cables, active USB runs, KVM switches that share one keyboard between machines, and enclosures that turn a spare NVMe drive into external storage.

A dock with power delivery passthrough means one cable at the desk: display, wired network, peripherals and charging all arrive together, and one unplug takes the machine to a meeting. Check the charging wattage the dock passes through, because the hub itself keeps a slice of it.

Offloading a shoot is bound by the slowest link in the chain. A card reader on a USB 2.0 port will crawl regardless of how fast the card is rated, and an NVMe enclosure only reaches its quoted speed on a port that supports 10Gbps or better.
Gamer
For consoles, handhelds and a crowded desk.
A handheld PC with one USB-C port needs a hub to run a display, a charger and a controller at the same time. For the television, the cable rating decides whether you actually get 4K at 120Hz or quietly drop to 60.
Traveller
For packing one charger instead of four.
Multi-port chargers using gallium nitride run cooler and pack smaller than the older silicon bricks, and they split their total wattage between the ports in use. A 65W unit charging a phone alongside a laptop is no longer a 65W laptop charger.

USB-C Multi-Port Hubs
Compact hubs that split one USB-C port into HDMI, USB-A, card readers and power delivery passthrough. Bus-powered, so they draw their supply from the laptop rather than the wall.
USB-C / Thunderbolt Docking Stations
Mains-powered docks for a permanent desk position. They drive external displays, feed gigabit ethernet and charge the laptop over the same cable that carries the data.
USB4 / Thunderbolt 4 Cables
40Gbps cables for docks, enclosures and daisy-chained displays. Passive versions are limited to short runs by the standard itself, so length matters more here than on an ordinary charging cable.
HDMI 2.1 & DisplayPort 2.1 Cables
High-bandwidth display cables for 4K at 120Hz and 8K panels. Beyond about three metres, copper struggles at full bandwidth and an active or optical cable becomes the reliable option.
KVM Switches
Share one keyboard, mouse and monitor between two or more machines with a button press. Useful where a work laptop and a personal desktop sit on the same desk.
USB-C PD / GaN Chargers
Wall and travel chargers built on gallium nitride, which runs cooler than older silicon and shrinks the brick. Total output is shared across the ports, so read the per-port split before buying.
