Measure the laptop, do not trust the label. Bags are sold by screen size, but thickness and weight vary enormously between a thin ultrabook and a gaming machine with the same diagonal. A snug compartment protects better than a loose one.
Then think about how you carry it. A backpack spreads weight across both shoulders and is the right answer for anything heavy or any distance. A shoulder bag is quicker to get in and out of and suits short trips.
