Native resolution is the number of physical pixels the projector can actually display, and it is the specification that decides image sharpness. Every projector on this page has a native 1080p panel, which is a different thing from a projector that merely accepts a 1080p signal and scales it down to a lower panel.

That distinction is the most common trap in projector buying. A projector listing 1080p support with a 720p panel will take the signal, downscale it and display a visibly softer image, particularly on text and menus.

At a typical lounge throw distance a native Full HD panel gives a clean picture across a large screen, and it is the resolution most streaming and broadcast content is delivered at, so nothing is wasted.
