Gaming Controllers for PC & Console 🎮

A gaming controller gives you analogue sticks, pressure triggers and a layout built for movement — the natural choice for racing, sports, fighting and third-person action where a mouse and keyboard feel awkward. On PC, most modern games recognise an Xbox-style (XInput) controller automatically, so you can plug in and play.

Decide how you want to connect first. Wired USB pads give the lowest latency and never need charging. Wireless controllers connect over Bluetooth or a 2.4GHz dongle for a cable-free desk, at the cost of keeping a battery topped up. From there, look at the extras that suit how you play — back paddles for claw-free button access, two-stage or adjustable triggers, and Hall-effect sticks that resist the drift that develops on older pads.

Evetech stocks controllers for PC and console, from everyday wireless pads to feature-rich models, all with local warranty and nationwide delivery. Compare the options below and match the connection and feature set to the games you actually play.

How to Choose a Gaming Controller

The right controller comes down to where you play, how you connect and which extras you'll actually use. A pad that's perfect for couch console gaming isn't always the best fit for a competitive PC setup. The points below cover the decisions that matter before you buy.

Wired USB pads have the lowest latency and never run flat, which suits competitive and fighting games. Wireless controllers connect over Bluetooth or a 2.4GHz dongle for a tidy, cable-free desk — a dongle generally gives more stable, lower-latency play than Bluetooth. If you switch between sitting close and across the room, wireless is the more flexible choice.
Most PC games are built around the Xbox-style (XInput) layout, so an Xbox-compatible pad usually works the moment you plug it in. PlayStation DualSense and DualShock pads also work on PC, but some games need Steam Input or a wrapper to map them correctly and to use features like haptics. If you want true plug-and-play, an Xbox-layout controller is the safest bet.
Back paddles are remappable buttons on the underside of the pad that let you jump, reload or crouch without lifting a thumb off the stick. They're a real advantage in shooters and fast action games. If you've never used them, start with two and assign your most-used face buttons.
Stick drift is when a worn analogue stick registers movement on its own. It's common on traditional potentiometer-based sticks after heavy use. Controllers with Hall-effect sticks use magnetic sensors with no physical contact, so they resist drift and tend to last longer — worth looking for if you game a lot.
Some controllers add trigger stops that shorten the trigger pull for faster firing in shooters, plus textured grips for sweaty hands during long sessions. Comfort is personal, so weigh grip shape and weight against the games you play most. For racing and driving sims, prioritise smooth, full-travel analogue triggers over short-throw stops.
