How to Choose Wireless Networking
The right Wi-Fi setup matches your home size, your fibre speed and the number of devices. Use the guide below to choose.
A single high-gain router covers smaller homes well; a mesh system uses multiple nodes to blanket larger or double-storey homes with seamless coverage. Choose mesh if you have dead zones.
Wi-Fi 6 handles many devices efficiently; 6E adds a clean 6GHz band for less congestion; Wi-Fi 7 is the newest with the highest throughput. Match it to your devices and how future-proof you want to be.
Dual-band suits most homes; tri-band adds a second 5GHz (or 6GHz) band so heavy uses like 4K streaming and gaming don't compete. Tri-band helps in busy, device-dense homes.
Match the router or number of mesh nodes to your floor area and walls. A three-bedroom home often needs two to three mesh nodes for solid coverage on every device.
Confirm compatibility with your fibre ONT and ISP, and look for QoS and faster LAN ports if you want low-latency gaming. Wired backhaul between mesh nodes gives the most stable speeds.
