A custom or pre-built Evetech PC can ship with Windows already installed and activated — check the listing. If you're buying parts or a barebones build, you'll need your own licence. Components like CPUs, motherboards and drives don't include an OS.

Will my hardware run Windows 11?

Windows 11 requires a supported 64-bit CPU, 4GB+ RAM, UEFI Secure Boot and TPM 2.0. Most PCs and laptops from the last few years meet this. Microsoft's free PC Health Check tool confirms compatibility before you buy.

Can I move my Windows licence to a new PC?

A Retail licence yes — deactivate it on the old PC and activate on the new one through your Microsoft account. An OEM licence stays tied to the original motherboard and can't be transferred. Check which type you're buying if you plan to upgrade later.

How do I activate my Windows licence?

Enter the product key during installation, or sign in with the Microsoft account linked to a digital licence. Once activated, Windows registers against your account so you can re-activate after a clean reinstall on the same PC.

Is Linux a real alternative to Windows for gaming?

Linux is free and excellent for development and lightweight machines, and tools like Proton run many Steam titles. But anti-cheat support and some games and apps remain Windows-only, so most South African gamers still choose Windows 11 for the widest compatibility.

What's the difference between Windows 10 and Windows 11?

Windows 11 adds a refreshed interface, Snap Layouts for multitasking, DirectStorage and Auto HDR for gaming, and tighter security baked in. It also receives the current updates. Windows 10's mainstream support has ended, so Windows 11 is the forward-looking choice.
