The right portable monitor comes down to how it connects and how you carry it. A single USB-C cable that carries both video and power is the simplest setup, but it only works if your laptop or phone supports DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C, so confirm that first. If your device has no video-capable USB-C port, look for a model with mini-HDMI and a separate USB-C power input instead.
After connectivity, weigh up panel and resolution against size, weight and power draw. A 1080p IPS panel is light on power and travels easily; 1440p and OLED look sharper and richer but pull more power, which matters when you are running off a laptop port with nothing to spare. Touchscreen, a built-in battery and a fold-out stand or magnetic case each add convenience and grams, so choose the combination that fits how you actually work on the move.
