When Capacity Is the Thing Holding Your Work Up
Sixty-four gigabytes is not a speed upgrade the way a faster processor is. It is a cliff you stop falling off. Below what a job needs, the system starts pushing pages out to storage and the work turns unpredictable: a timeline that scrubs cleanly one minute and stalls the next, a model that opens and then freezes the moment a linked file loads. Above it, the machine behaves the same way all day and memory stops being part of the conversation.
Which work actually gets there is worth being precise about. Adobe's own sizing guidance for After Effects with multi-frame rendering is roughly four gigabytes per processor core plus twenty, which puts a sixteen-core machine past sixty-four before a project is even open. Large linked BIM models, 8K and multi-camera timelines, registered point clouds, several virtual machines running at once, and dataset preparation that will not stream all sit in the same territory. Ordinary 4K editing and most day-to-day CAD does not, and thirty-two is honestly enough there.
