Which Alienware laptops are current?

The line is the Alienware 16 Area-51, the Alienware 18 Area-51 and the Alienware 16X Aurora. The older m15, m17, x15 and x17 names belong to previous generations and are no longer how Dell organises the range.

How much power does the 18-inch Area-51 actually draw?

It is engineered for up to 280 W in total, split as roughly 175 W to the graphics chip and 105 W to the processor. That is the highest figure Dell has built into an Alienware laptop, and it explains the size of both the chassis and the adapter.

Does Alienware still ship RTX 30 or 40 Series graphics?

Current builds use GeForce RTX 50 Series laptop GPUs, up to the RTX 5090 with 24 GB of GDDR7. Any specification listing RTX 30 or 40 Series parts describes an earlier Alienware generation rather than what Dell ships now.

Is an OLED screen a problem in a bright room?

Less so than it used to be. The current 16-inch models introduced anti-glare OLED, which scatters reflections instead of mirroring the room while keeping OLED contrast. Ambient light still reduces perceived contrast, so position the desk sensibly.

How do delivery and collection work in South Africa?

Orders reach Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban in one to three business days, and regional addresses in three to five. Collection is available from our Centurion warehouse, and everything sold is new stock.

Alienware Gaming Laptops: Area-51 and Aurora Explained

Dell rebuilt the Alienware laptop line around two names. Area-51 is the flagship, sold in 16 and 18-inch sizes with Intel Core Ultra 200HX processors, GeForce RTX 50 Series laptop graphics reaching the 24 GB RTX 5090, and a Cryo-Chamber structure that raises the rear of the chassis to feed four fans through a large vapour chamber. The 16X Aurora sits below it, using the same silicon families in a slimmer, lighter build.

Choosing between them comes down to how much sustained power you are willing to carry. The 18-inch Area-51 is engineered for up to 280 W of combined processor and graphics draw and behaves like a desk machine; the 16-inch models give up part of that ceiling in exchange for a bag that closes. Evetech ships Alienware nationwide from Centurion, one to three business days to the major centres and three to five days regionally, in new stock only.
