Question 1

What makes MSI QD-OLED monitors look better than a normal LED gaming display?

Accepted Answer

MSI's OLED panels light each pixel individually, so blacks are truly black and contrast is effectively infinite, with none of the grey backlight glow you get from edge-lit or even mini-LED LCDs. Most current MSI gaming models use QD-OLED (quantum-dot OLED), which adds richer, more saturated colour and holds accuracy at wide viewing angles. Response times are near-instant (around 0.03ms GtG), so fast motion stays sharp with no smearing. The trade-off is a glossy finish that looks stunning in a controlled room but reflects more in bright, sunlit spaces.

Question 2

How fast are MSI OLED gaming monitors, and what GPU do I need to drive one?

Accepted Answer

MSI OLED gaming monitors run high refresh rates, typically 240Hz and up, with some 1440p models pushing 360Hz or higher for competitive play. To actually hit those frame rates you need a capable current-gen GPU: a mid-to-upper Blackwell RTX 50-series card (e.g. an RTX 5070 Ti or 5080) or an RDNA 4 Radeon RX 9000 card suits 1440p high-refresh, while 4K 240Hz realistically wants a flagship like an RTX 5090. Lower-tier cards still work, they just won't sustain the monitor's peak refresh in demanding titles. Features like DLSS 4 and FSR 4 help push frame rates closer to the panel's ceiling.

Question 3

Do MSI OLED monitors get burn-in, and are they covered by warranty?

Accepted Answer

OLED can suffer permanent image retention from static elements like taskbars, HUDs or logos left on-screen for very long periods, but MSI builds in active protection to prevent it: pixel shift, panel refresh cycles, static-detection dimming and a graphene heat-spreader to keep the panel cool. In everyday mixed gaming, creative and desktop use this risk is low. MSI also backs its OLED gaming monitors with a dedicated burn-in warranty (commonly three years) that specifically covers OLED image retention. Every unit Evetech sells carries local warranty with in-house RMA handling, so you're not shipping overseas if anything goes wrong.

Question 4

How good is HDR on MSI OLED, and is it bright enough?

Accepted Answer

MSI OLED monitors carry VESA DisplayHDR True Black certification, which is the tier built specifically for OLED because it rewards perfect black levels rather than raw brightness. That means outstanding HDR contrast, with bright highlights sitting right next to genuinely black shadows for real depth. Full-screen brightness is lower than a mini-LED LCD, but small-area peak highlights are punchy and specular. For HDR gaming and film the per-pixel contrast usually looks more convincing than a brighter LCD that can't switch off its backlight.

Question 5

What is the difference between the MSI MAG and MPG OLED ranges?

Accepted Answer

Both are QD-OLED gaming lines, but MPG is the premium tier and MAG is the value-focused mainstream tier. MPG models add more features and connectivity: higher-end stands, more USB and USB-C options, KVM switching, and MSI's AI-assisted extras. MAG covers the core essentials, the same fast OLED panel and refresh with a leaner feature set at a lower price. Pick MAG for the best OLED gaming picture on a tighter budget, and MPG if you want the extra I/O and desk-setup flexibility. See the live specs and prices on each product card above.

Question 6

Which ports and cables do MSI OLED monitors use, and will they work with my PC?

Accepted Answer

MSI OLED monitors use DisplayPort and HDMI 2.1, and newer high-refresh models include DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR) for enough bandwidth to run high resolutions at very high refresh without heavy compression. For a desktop, connect via DisplayPort from your GPU for the highest refresh; HDMI 2.1 is ideal for a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X at 4K 120Hz. Many models also offer USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode, handy for laptops and often with power delivery to charge over the same cable. Use the certified cable in the box or a rated DisplayPort/HDMI 2.1 cable so the full bandwidth is available.

Question 7

Are MSI OLED monitors in stock in South Africa with local warranty and support?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Evetech stocks MSI OLED gaming monitors as an official MSI partner, with nationwide delivery across South Africa and local warranty on every unit. Support and returns are handled through Evetech's in-house RMA team rather than an overseas depot, so claims stay local.
