The R10,000 line keeps moving. Memory has been the loudest factor in graphics card pricing through 2026, because AI data-centre demand absorbed a large share of DRAM and GDDR output and pushed module costs up sharply. For a shopper the effect is simple: the same rand figure now reaches a rung lower on the performance ladder than it did two years ago.
That is an argument for buying against what you can measure rather than what might arrive. NVIDIA's planned Super refresh of the RTX 50 line was pushed back rather than launched, and reporting puts the following architecture into 2027 at the earliest. Waiting carries a real cost while the shelf itself keeps getting dearer.
