The HBADA P1 Air is a black mesh office chair using special mesh across the headrest, backrest and armrest surfaces, with a fabric and sponge seat. It runs a class 4 gas lift on a heavy-duty five-star base, supports up to 150kg and is recommended for users between 160cm and 190cm tall.

The headrest measures 40cm across, wider than the headrest fitted to most mesh office chairs. Width is what determines whether the pad still supports your head when you turn toward a second monitor or a colleague, rather than only when you are facing dead ahead at the screen.

Lumbar support is built into the backrest rather than added as a separate cushion. Because it forms part of the structure it stays where it is set instead of sliding out of place each time you get in or out of the chair, which is the common failing of strap-on lumbar pillows.

The backrest is 53cm wide and made from HBADA's special mesh. Mesh flexes to take the shape of your back under load and lets air pass through rather than trapping it, which is what keeps the chair comfortable through a full working day in a room without air conditioning.

The seat combines frog fabric with natural sponge and measures 51cm across. Unlike the mesh used through the back of the chair, the seat is padded, which gives a firmer base under the sitting bones than a suspended mesh pan and avoids the edge pressure a tensioned seat frame can create.

Seat depth measures 50cm from front edge to backrest. That figure decides how much of the thigh the cushion carries, and 50cm supports the leg toward the knee for taller users within HBADA's recommended range while leaving clearance behind the knee so the front edge is not pressing into the calf.

Height runs on a class 4 gas lift, giving a seat height of 49.5cm to 59cm from the floor. The gas cylinder is the component under constant load on any chair, so its class rating is a specification worth confirming, and the 9.5cm of travel covers standard desk heights comfortably.

The armrests are surfaced in the same special mesh and sit 21.5cm above the seat, which puts them between 69cm and 78.5cm from the floor as the seat is raised and lowered. Compare the floor figure against your desk height to check whether the armrests will slide underneath it.

The chair stands on a heavy-duty five-star base moulded in PP. Five arms spread the seat load out to the casters and give the wide stance that resists tipping when you lean back or reach sideways, which is what a base is doing every time you shift your weight in the chair.

The frame is polypropylene, the same material as the base. PP keeps the chair light enough to reposition on its own casters or lift between rooms without help, and it does not corrode, which matters on a chair that may sit near a window or in a room that gets humid.

The P1 Air rolls on PU casters. PU is the softer of the common caster materials, so the chair moves quietly across laminate, tile and sealed concrete rather than clattering over them, and it still rolls freely on the low-pile carpet used through most offices and home studies.

The chair measures 66cm across overall and stands between 117cm and 127cm tall depending on the seat setting, with a maximum weight capacity of 150kg. HBADA recommends it for users from 160cm to 190cm and notes that its dimensions are measured by hand, so allow one to two centimetres either way.
