Self-lit OLED blacks, Dual Mode refresh switching and 21:9 panoramas. LG builds each monitor line around one job instead of compromising across all three, and Evetech stocks that range in South Africa with local warranty behind it.

The LG monitor range splits along one honest line: emissive panels and backlit ones. OLED models give you true black and near-instant pixel response, which suits a dim room and competitive play. Nano IPS and IPS Black models go brighter, cost less and raise no image-retention question at all, which makes them the practical answer for a sunlit study or a screen that shows the same dashboard for eight hours a day.
Past the panel itself, three things decide whether a monitor suits your setup: the resolution and refresh combination your graphics card can genuinely sustain, whether a single USB-C lead can replace the tangle behind the desk, and how far the stand actually moves. The five points below cover what buyers ask us most often about this range.
Image retention is a genuine property of OLED, which is why LG builds pixel compensation and logo dimming into the panel firmware. With varied content and a hidden taskbar it stays a non-issue for most people. The case where an IPS model is the safer purchase is a screen that displays the same static dashboard all day.
It switches the panel between native 4K at 240Hz and a Full HD mode at 480Hz. The lower mode maps onto a subset of the panel's pixels rather than stretching the image, so the picture stays sharp, and you toggle between them from the monitor's own controls.
Most of the range keeps a 100mm VESA pattern, though the OLED models are thin enough that the mounting plate sits in a recess and some need the supplied adapter plate. Check the panel weight against your arm's rating as well: a 45-inch ultrawide is well beyond what an inexpensive gas-spring arm will hold steady.
Only if you consistently push beyond 240fps in the games you play, which in practice means competitive shooters running on a strong processor. The gap between the two amounts to under a millisecond of frame interval. It is real, and it is far smaller than the step from 60Hz to 144Hz was.
Yes, over HDMI. Consoles output up to 4K at 120Hz, so a model with HDMI 2.1 inputs and variable refresh support takes that signal in full. The higher refresh modes further up the specification sheet are PC territory and no console can drive them.
UltraFine is the creative line: higher pixel density, calibrated colour, USB-C power delivery and ergonomic stands. UltraGear is the gaming line, where refresh rate, response time and adaptive sync take priority over colour certification. They are built for different rooms and different work.
DisplayPort for the highest PC refresh modes, and start with the lead in the box, since LG ships one rated for the panel it came with. HDMI on these models handles console rates and 4K at 120Hz, but the very fastest modes are typically DisplayPort-only.
