The ORICO Transparent USB-C NVMe SSD Enclosure in black takes PCIe M.2 NVMe SSDs in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 sizes and moves data over USB 3.1 Gen2 at up to 10Gbps. A durable aluminium heatsink keeps the drive cool during 4K video editing, gaming and content creation, and the transparent casing protects the drive while showing the hardware inside. The design pairs a fully transparent shell with polychrome aluminium alloy, so the hardware inside stays visible while the metal does the heat dissipation. It is an unusual combination, because most enclosures either seal the drive inside opaque metal or expose it in plastic with no cooling path. Here the two are separated deliberately.

A JMS583 performance controller runs the enclosure on USB 3.1 Gen2 architecture, with UASP and TRIM support for low-latency, high-throughput transfers. UASP replaces the older command protocol with one that queues operations properly, and TRIM lets the host tell the SSD which blocks are free, which is what keeps write performance from degrading over time.

The interface is rated at up to 10Gbps, and real-world read and write speeds have been tested up to 992MB/s depending on the connected device. That matters when the drive going in is one pulled from an upgraded laptop, since short 2242 and 2230 sticks are common in compact machines and rejected by many enclosures.

Triple heat dissipation delivers rapid cooling that reduces thermal throttling and helps protect the M.2 NVMe drive inside. Throttling is not a fault condition, it is the drive protecting itself by slowing down, so the only way to keep the rated speeds through a long transfer is to remove the heat before the drive has to react to it.
