Sized for Containers, Databases and Long Builds
A development desktop is judged on how much it holds open at once. A container runtime, a local database, an editor indexing a large repository and thirty browser tabs are all resident together, and the machine that feels quick is the one that never has to page any of them out. On Windows the Linux virtual machine behind WSL2 and Docker Desktop will claim up to half the installed memory by default, before your own tools ask for anything.
Processor choice follows from what you build. Compilation splits neatly across cores, linking largely does not, and every parallel job wants memory of its own, so cores and capacity have to be bought together. Evetech builds custom desktops from new components and dispatches them countrywide.
