The Promate PatrolPack-3 puts a 1200A jump starter, a 150 PSI air compressor, a 12,000mAh power bank and a 270lm LED torch into one 1040g unit. Those are the four things a stranded driver actually needs, and carrying them as a single kit is the difference between having them in the boot and having them at home.

The jump starter runs on 12V with a 600A starting current and a 1200A peak. Smart clamps handle the connection and include reverse polarity protection, so a clamp on the wrong terminal is caught rather than becoming an expensive mistake at the roadside in the dark.

A built-in air compressor reaches a maximum of 150 PSI, which covers car and SUV tyres as well as bicycle tyres and sports equipment. Because it draws on the same internal battery as the jump starter, inflation does not depend on the vehicle running or on a working 12V socket in the cabin.

Automatic tyre pressure monitoring reports real-time pressure while you inflate, shown on a large LED display that also carries battery level and charging status. Set a target and the readout tells you when you have reached it, instead of guessing and then driving to a garage to check the result.

The internal lithium-ion battery is rated at 12,000mAh, or 44.4Wh, and it feeds everything the unit does: the starting current, the compressor, the torch and the USB outputs. That capacity gives multiple charge cycles for phones and accessories before the pack itself needs to go back on a charger.

Two USB-A outputs charge devices at the same time. The first supports Quick Charge with 5V at 3A, 9V at 2A or 12V at 1.5A, and the second gives 5V at 2.4A. The unit itself refills through a USB-C input that accepts 5V at 3A, 9V at 2A or 12V at 1.5A.

A DC output supplies 12-16V at 10A for 160W, which opens the pack up to accessories that expect a vehicle-style supply rather than USB. Camping equipment, cooler boxes and 12V tools all fall into that category, so the same unit that starts a car can run gear at a campsite.

The built-in LED torch puts out 270 lumens and runs four modes: steady illumination, SOS, strobe and an orange light strobe. The orange strobe is the one that matters on a roadside verge, marking the vehicle to approaching traffic while you work, and SOS signals for help without draining the pack quickly.
