SteelSeries Prismcaps Double Shot PBT Keycaps - White / Extreme Durability / Compatible With Most Mechanical Keyboards / Thermoplastic PBT Keycaps / 60203

The SteelSeries Prismcaps Double Shot PBT Keycaps are made from high-quality PBT, a material chosen because it takes continuous use without showing wear. The double shot construction moulds two layers of robust plastic together, so the legends on the keys cannot fade the way printed ones do. The white set is compatible with most mechanical keyboards, which makes it a direct upgrade to a gaming or work setup rather than a project.

Prismcaps use a double shot design with translucent sides and lettering, which is what produces the vibrant pudding-style RGB look on a lit keyboard. Light escapes from the walls of each cap as well as the legend, so per-key backlighting reads as a glow around the whole key rather than a symbol floating on a dark block.

Prismcaps are designed specifically for SteelSeries MX stem mechanical keyboards, including the Apex 5, Apex 7 and TKL, and Apex Pro and TKL. Additional alternate bottom row keycaps are supplied in the set for broader compatibility with boards from various other brands, which is where most keycap upgrades run into trouble.

These are highly engineered thermoplastic PBT keycaps, and the point of that material is that the surface texture and appearance stay consistent even after prolonged use. Keycaps that shine up under the fingers change how the board feels long before they look worn, which is the failure mode PBT is chosen to avoid.

The double shot keycap design builds each cap from two layers of robust plastic, so the legend is part of the moulding rather than a coating on the surface. That is why the key markings stay visible after extensive usage, when printed or laser-etched legends on a heavily used board have already started to wear away.

A keycap removal tool is included with the Prismcaps set, so you can lift the existing caps off safely instead of prying at them with whatever is on the desk. It makes swapping keys straightforward, both for the initial install and any time you want to change a single cap later on.

Prismcaps come in two colour options, black and white, so the set can either disappear into a dark board or contrast against it. This is the white version, which shows RGB lighting most clearly because the pale caps carry the colour across their whole surface rather than confining it to the legend.
