Ryzen 9 is the top of AMD's mainstream desktop range: twelve or sixteen cores split across two chiplets, on the AM5 socket, with DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 feeding the graphics slot and the first NVMe drive. It suits a machine that does more than play, because games themselves seldom stretch past eight cores.

The tier then splits two ways. Standard X models hold higher all-core clocks and finish renders, exports and compiles sooner. The X3D versions stack extra cache on one chiplet, which lifts frame rates in simulation, strategy and large open-world titles whose working set overflows ordinary cache. Pick the half that matches the job you do most often, and let the graphics card handle resolution.
