Building the Whole Desk, Not Just the Tower

Most of what anyone actually sees of a themed desk is not the computer. It is the mat, the keyboard, the mouse, the headset hanging off the monitor and whatever is throwing light onto the wall behind all of it. Those are also the parts that reliably ship in colour, which makes them the sensible place to start rather than the last thing you get round to.

The difficulty is consistency. Nothing obliges two brands to agree on what pink means, the bulbs in the room shift the shade further, and a camera shifts it again. Planning around one dominant coloured surface and a neutral base solves more of that than simply buying more coloured objects.
