Which switch does this VANGUARD 96 have, and how is it different from the others?

This is the MLX Plasma version: smooth and linear, 45g actuation at 2.0mm, with 4.0mm of total travel. Corsair also sells the VANGUARD 96 with MLX Fusion (thocky tactile, 40g, 3.4mm travel), MLX Quantum (fast linear, actuating at just 1.2mm) and MLX Pulse (thocky linear, 3.6mm, 5-pin). Plasma has the longest travel of the four, so it feels the most traditional.

What does 96% layout mean?

It keeps the number pad, arrow keys and function row but removes the gaps between the key clusters. The result is a full-feature keyboard in a footprint close to a tenkeyless board, which leaves more room for the mouse.

Can I change the switches?

Yes. It is hot-swappable and takes both 3-pin and 5-pin switches, so you are not locked into MLX Plasma later.

What is the screen for?

It is a 1.9in 320x170 IPS colour display for custom animations, images, and readouts tied to the rotary dial. It also works with Elgato Virtual Stream Deck integration.

Is this keyboard wireless?

No, this is the wired model. Corsair does make a VANGUARD 96 WIRELESS, but it is a different product with a different part number. This one connects over a braided detachable USB-C cable to USB Type-A.

What is FlashTap SOCD?

It handles simultaneous opposing cardinal direction inputs, so pressing left while still holding right registers the newest key rather than cancelling out. It is used for faster direction changes in competitive play.

Does it come with a wrist rest?

Yes. A magnetic detachable palm rest with a leatherette cover and memory foam cushion is in the box, along with a 2-in-1 keycap puller.
