FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about this product
No. It uses SteelSeries Whisper-Quiet switches on a POM rubber dome sheet, rated for 20 million keypresses. They are low-friction and near-silent, which suits late-night gaming and shared rooms better than clicky switches.
Yes. SteelSeries builds the Apex 3 TKL to be water and dust resistant, so an accidental spill on the desk is not the end of the keyboard. Dry it off before you plug it back in.
Wired. It connects over USB and needs no batteries or dongle, and the three-way cable routing lets you run the cable out of the left, centre or right.
The Amethyst edition pairs a white body, white cable and white letter keys with amethyst-purple accent keys and a purple volume roller and media key, with 8-zone RGB lighting underneath.
8-zone RGB with 16.8 million colours. Through SteelSeries GG and PrismSync the lighting can react to games and Discord and sync with other SteelSeries gear.
Yes. SteelSeries lists Windows, Mac, ChromeOS, Xbox and PlayStation, all over a USB port. Lighting and macro customisation need SteelSeries GG on a PC or Mac.
It is a tenkeyless US-layout keyboard measuring 364mm wide, 150mm deep and 40mm high, and it weighs 639g. Dropping the number pad frees up desk space for wide mouse swipes.
It is SteelSeries' entry TKL: quiet, spill-resistant and properly anti-ghosted with 24-key rollover, plus dedicated media keys and a volume roller. If you want analog or mechanical switches, look at the Apex Pro range instead.
