The AOC CQ27G3S is a 27-inch gaming monitor with a 2560x1440 QHD resolution on a VA panel, running at a 165Hz refresh rate with a 1ms response time. That combination puts the pixel density of Quad HD and the frame pacing of a high-refresh esports display on the same screen instead of forcing you to choose between them.

The CQ27G3S curves toward you, which pulls more of the picture into view during a long session, and the 165Hz refresh rate keeps motion fluid while the 1ms response time puts your input on screen without delay or tearing. AOC also limits shortwave blue light output on this panel, which is aimed squarely at eye comfort over extended gaming periods.

A curved panel wraps the edges of the image slightly toward your eyes, so more of the screen sits at a consistent viewing distance. On the CQ27G3S that increases peripheral engagement, which is why a curved 27-inch display feels larger in use than a flat one of the same measured size.

Quad HD at 2560 x 1440 puts substantially more pixels across a 27-inch panel than 1080p does, so text stays sharp and fine detail in a game world holds together at normal desk distance. The same resolution makes the CQ27G3S usable for photo editing, video work and streaming films outside of gaming hours.

Screen tearing happens when the monitor refreshes partway through a frame the graphics card is still drawing. AMD FreeSync Premium synchronises the CQ27G3S refresh rate with your GPU's output so the two stay in step, which removes tearing and the stutter that comes with it during frame rate swings.

The 165Hz refresh rate on the CQ27G3S meets the standard set for professional gaming, drawing far more frames per second than a 60Hz panel can. The practical result is minimal screen blur during fast camera movement, so a target stays readable while you are still turning toward it.

Pixel response time on the CQ27G3S is 1ms MPRT, quick enough that pixels finish changing before the next frame arrives. That eliminates the smearing and ghosting trails that follow moving objects on slower panels, keeping quick actions and scene transitions clean rather than blurred.

HDR 10 support extends the dynamic range of colour and contrast beyond what a standard display reproduces, so bright areas and shadow detail can appear in the same frame without one crushing the other. In practice that gives games and films a wider spread between their darkest and brightest points.

AOC's 3-Sided Frameless Design puts thin bezels on three edges of the CQ27G3S, so there is very little border between the image and the edge of the panel. That keeps distractions out of your field of view in a single-screen setup and makes the gap almost disappear when two or three are placed side by side.

VA panel technology gives the CQ27G3S viewing angles of 178 degrees horizontally and 178 degrees vertically, so the image holds its colour and brightness whether you are square on or off to one side. That matters when more than one person is watching, or when you sit back from the desk to work.

The CQ27G3S carries both HDMI and DisplayPort. HDMI handles high-speed connections for ultra-high-definition displays and gaming consoles, while DisplayPort is the input to use for the highest refresh rates and resolution from a PC, so a console and a desktop can stay plugged in at the same time.
