Where the processor matters is specific and worth knowing before you spend. At 1080p with a high-refresh panel, in simulation and strategy titles, and in large open worlds streaming assets, the chip sets the pace. Push the same machine to 1440p and the graphics card becomes the limit in nearly every title, which is why a mid-tier processor next to a strong card is usually the better split of a fixed budget.
The sticker price of the chip is only part of what you pay. AMD's current desktop socket accepts DDR5 exclusively, while some Intel boards still take either generation, so two processors at the same price can land very differently once the board and the memory kit are added.
