Three Tiers, Not One Ladder
Logitech G does not run a single ladder from cheap to expensive. The PRO line chases weight and latency, with the PRO X Superlight 2 landing at 60 grams and 8,000 Hz polling. The G502 family goes the opposite way, fitting 13 controls and lighting into roughly 106 grams wireless. Between them sit the AA-powered models such as the G309, which trades a few grams for runtime measured in weeks rather than days.
The sensor question is mostly settled. HERO 2 tracks to 44,000 DPI at 888 inches per second with no smoothing, acceleration or filtering applied, and Logitech pushed that DPI ceiling to existing HERO 2 mice as a firmware update. What still separates models is the shell, the button count and how the mouse is powered: LIGHTSPEED is the 2.4 GHz link built for play, Bluetooth is the long-runtime fallback, and POWERPLAY charges through the mousepad so the question never comes up.
