The NearStream AMIX40U is a 10-channel all-in-one USB audio mixer built around an advanced audio digital chip, sized to sit on a desk rather than in a rack. It handles microphones, instruments, backing tracks and monitoring from one unit, which is what a streamer or podcaster needs in place of an interface, a mixer and a monitoring box stacked together.

Two combo inputs accept either an XLR plug or a 6.35mm jack in the same socket, running into Revolution preamps. Combo jacks mean one input serves a studio microphone today and a guitar or line source tomorrow without an adapter. Two of them is what allows a two-host podcast or an interview to be recorded properly rather than sharing one mic.

The mixer supplies 48V phantom power, which is the voltage a condenser microphone needs to work at all. Without it, a studio condenser plugged into a mixer produces nothing or a barely audible signal. Having it on board is what separates a unit built for proper microphones from one designed only for dynamic mics and headsets.

A two-inch HD LCD screen displays the mixer's status directly on the unit, so levels and settings are visible without alt-tabbing to a software window mid-stream. On a live broadcast the moments when you most need to check a setting are the moments you can least afford to leave the scene, which is what makes an on-device screen worth having.

Two 3.5mm headphone outputs allow ultra-low-latency dual monitoring, so a host and a guest can each hear the mix in real time. Latency is the specification that matters here: if what you hear lags what you say, your own delivery falls apart. Two independent outputs also mean nobody has to share a splitter mid-session.

Backing tracks and sound effects can come in over Bluetooth, USB, an OTG input or the AUX input. That covers a phone paired wirelessly, a laptop on USB, a tablet on OTG and any analogue source on a 3.5mm lead. Four ways into the mix means the source you already own is supported rather than requiring a new device.

Gain and reverb each run on a 0 to 100 scale, giving fine control rather than a handful of steps. Three EQ presets sit alongside three sound modes named Original, Deep and Bright, which shift the character of a voice without needing plugin chains. Deep suits a thin voice, Bright lifts a dark one, and Original leaves it alone.

A three-level intelligent denoise system removes background noise at a strength you choose rather than a single fixed setting, which matters because heavy denoising thins a voice. Two 6.35mm stereo outputs and a 3.5mm audio port handle the outbound side. The mixer works with PC, Mac and Windows systems, and is compatible with most major recording platforms.
