What are the key specs of the RTX 5090?

The GeForce RTX 5090 is built on NVIDIA's Blackwell architecture with 32GB of GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit bus. It supports DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, upgraded RT and Tensor cores, PCIe 5.0 and the latest display outputs, making it the flagship of the GeForce RTX 50 series.

Is the RTX 5090 good for 4K and 8K gaming?

Yes. The RTX 5090 is designed for 4K high-refresh gaming and is the strongest GeForce card for 8K. With DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation enabled in supported titles, it maintains high frame rates even with ray tracing turned on, provided you pair it with a DisplayPort 2.1b or HDMI 2.1 display.

How much power does the RTX 5090 need?

The RTX 5090 is a high-draw flagship, so plan for a high-wattage, quality power supply, ideally an ATX 3.1 unit with a native 12V-2x6 (16-pin) connector to handle transient spikes cleanly. If your current PSU is marginal, budget for a supply upgrade when you buy the card.

How is the RTX 5090 different from the RTX 5080?

The RTX 5090 has substantially more CUDA cores and a wider 512-bit memory bus, and it carries 32GB of GDDR7 versus the 5080's smaller frame buffer. That extra memory and compute make the 5090 the better choice for 8K gaming, heavy 3D rendering and local AI work, while the 5080 targets high-end 4K gaming at lower cost.

Is the RTX 5090 worth it for content creation and AI?

For creators, the 32GB of GDDR7 is the standout feature. It lets you work with large 3D scenes, high-resolution video timelines and local AI and generative models that will not fit in smaller cards. Combined with Blackwell's Tensor cores, it accelerates rendering, AI upscaling and machine-learning workloads.

What connectors and display outputs does the RTX 5090 support?

The RTX 5090 uses a PCIe 5.0 interface and supports the latest DisplayPort 2.1b and HDMI 2.1 outputs, enabling high-refresh 4K and 8K displays. Power is delivered through a single 12V-2x6 (16-pin) connector, so check that your PSU includes the correct cable or adapter.

Will an RTX 5090 fit in my case?

Most RTX 5090 partner cards are large triple-fan designs, and some are triple- or quad-slot, so clearance is worth checking. Confirm your case's maximum GPU length in millimetres and the number of expansion slots before ordering. If space is tight, look for the more compact models in the range.

Is the RTX 5090 available in South Africa?

Yes. Evetech stocks NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards from leading partner brands in South Africa, with local warranty and support. Stock on flagship GPUs can move quickly, so check the live availability on this page before ordering.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Graphics Cards

Blackwell flagship for 4K, 8K and AI creation

The GeForce RTX 5090 is NVIDIA's Blackwell flagship, built for uncompromising 4K and 8K gaming, high-refresh play and heavy creative work. With 32GB of GDDR7 on a 512-bit bus and DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, it drives ray-traced titles, 3D rendering and local AI workloads at the top of the GeForce range.

How to Choose an RTX 5090 Graphics Card

The RTX 5090 sits at the top of NVIDIA's Blackwell GeForce line-up, so the choice is less about whether it is fast enough and more about matching the card to your case, cooling and power supply. Every partner model shares the same GPU, 32GB of GDDR7 and 512-bit memory bus, but they differ in cooler size, clock speeds, noise and physical dimensions.

Most RTX 5090 models are large triple-fan or triple-slot designs, and some run four slots. Measure your case clearance in millimetres before buying. A bigger cooler generally runs quieter and holds higher boost clocks for longer, but it needs the room to breathe.

The RTX 5090 is a high-draw flagship, so plan for a high-wattage PSU with the 12V-2x6 (or 16-pin) power connector. An ATX 3.1 unit handles the card's transient spikes cleanly. If your current supply is marginal, budget for a PSU upgrade at the same time.

The 5090 is built for 4K high-refresh and 8K gaming. Pair it with a DisplayPort 2.1b or HDMI 2.1 monitor to unlock its full output. At 1080p it is overkill and often CPU-limited, so this card makes the most sense from 1440p high-refresh upward.

With 32GB of GDDR7, the 5090 handles large 3D scenes, video timelines, high-resolution texture work and local AI models that smaller cards cannot fit in memory. If you render, edit or run generative AI locally, that memory headroom is the main reason to choose this card over a 5080.

Blackwell adds DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, which can generate additional frames for a large uplift in supported titles, alongside upgraded RT cores for cleaner reflections, lighting and shadows. Look for models with strong cooling so the card holds its boost during long ray-traced sessions.

Before you buy, check three things: that the card physically fits your case, that your power supply has the wattage and 12V-2x6 connector headroom for a flagship GPU, and that your monitor can actually make use of the performance through DisplayPort 2.1b or HDMI 2.1. Below are the factors that matter most when comparing RTX 5090 models.
