The Fractal Design Torrent Compact in Black with dark tint tempered glass is a mid-tower built around maximum air intake, with an open grille front instead of a restrictive solid panel. Two 180mm PWM fans are fitted from the outset, so the case cools properly before a single fan is added. A front Type-C port handles modern connectivity, and the dark tinted glass keeps the build visible without glare.

Moving the power supply to the top clears the floor of the case and leaves the interior open, which is where the Torrent Compact gets its breathing room. Despite the space-optimised footprint it still handles E-ATX motherboards up to 274 mm wide. Fans ship as two Prisma ARGB PWM units on the RGB version or Dynamic X2 PWM units otherwise.

The base intake is left unobstructed, so air reaches the graphics card directly from below rather than after passing through a drive cage or shroud. That layout gives the Torrent Compact strong GPU cooling potential, which matters most on the cards that pull the heaviest sustained load. The graphics card is usually the hottest component in a gaming build, and this is the intake feeding it.

Fractal Design 180 x 38 mm fans combine size and thickness to move a substantial volume of air per revolution. Front fan brackets keep airflow to those larger fans unblocked while still accommodating standard radiator sizes. Front and bottom dust filters come out once the front panel is off, and the open interior leaves room for either air or water cooling to work.

A robust, vibration-damped drive tray takes a single hard drive or two SSDs and can sit in either of two mounting positions. Three dedicated SSD brackets are included on top of that, so solid state storage has somewhere to go without a cage in the airflow path. A removable top bezel and routing clips with cable ties keep the build and its cabling tidy.

A GPU support bracket comes with the Torrent Compact to hold a graphics card level in its slot. It is user assembled, and the instructions for fitting it are included. Long, heavy cards put steady load on the PCIe slot and the bracket takes that weight off it, which is worth doing on the day the card goes in rather than months later.

The tempered glass panels use bolt-free top-latching mechanisms, so they lift away and reseat without hardware. LED lights on TG versions and RGB fans on the RGB version are controlled through motherboards that support addressable RGB at 5V, keeping lighting in one software stack. The top-mounted aerodynamic PSU shroud carries integrated ARGB effects on TG and RGB versions.
