The Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite (H60993D1) is a 2.4 m strip supplied in four sections and cut for televisions between 75 and 85 inches. It outputs 612 lumens around the back of the panel, pushing colour onto the wall behind the screen so the picture appears to extend past its own bezel.

Alongside the red, green and blue chips, each LED carries a dedicated warm white emitter. That fourth chip is what lets the strip produce a true white instead of an approximation mixed from colour, which lifts contrast in bright scenes and stops daylight footage looking tinted.

An Envisual camera watches the screen and drives the lighting to match it. This version corrects fish-eye distortion in the lens, which widens the area it can colour-match accurately, so the lighting at the edges of a very large panel tracks the picture instead of drifting.

The camera hangs from the top edge of the television using a gravitational design, which suits ultra-thin panels where a clamp has nothing to grip. It settles itself level and stays stable rather than wobbling out of alignment each time the TV is nudged or cleaned.

Because the system reads the screen optically rather than tapping a video signal, it works with any content: a streaming app, a games console, a set-top box or a Blu-ray player. There is no format restriction and no HDMI box in the chain to limit resolution or refresh rate.

DreamView links this backlight with up to seven other Govee sub-devices, so lamps, strips and bars around the room follow the same colours at the same time. That turns a single screen effect into whole-room lighting, which is the point at which it stops being a novelty behind the TV.

Matter compatibility means the backlight works out of the box with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Samsung SmartThings, rather than only inside the Govee app. Alexa and Google Assistant also handle voice control directly for scenes and power.

A new chip runs 15% to 20% faster than the previous generation, tightening the gap between what appears on screen and what the strip does. The app also detects a blank or static screen and switches the lights off, so a paused film or a screensaver does not leave the wall stuck on one colour.

The strip carries 30 LEDs per metre and draws 24 W, fed at 12 VDC 2 A from a 100-240 VAC 50/60 Hz adapter. The box holds the strip, adapter, control box, camera and manual in black, and the system operates between -10 and 45 degrees Celsius.
