The Promate LAXMOUNT holds a MagSafe-compatible phone magnetically on a dashboard or windshield, with no cradle arms across the screen or the buttons. A mounting kit is included so it can be fitted in one go, and the phone attaches and releases in a single movement while the car is stationary.

N52 magnets are laid out to match the ring on a MagSafe-compatible phone, so the handset snaps to the correct position instead of being nudged into alignment. Promate rates the hold to stay stable through bumps and turns, which is the only test that matters for a mount used on real roads.

The mount is shaped as a slim ring rather than a plate or a claw, so it occupies very little dashboard area and looks like part of the interior when the phone is off it. In a small car, that footprint is often the reason a mount can be fitted somewhere useful at all.

Because nothing grips the edges of the phone, turning it from portrait to landscape is a single twist. Portrait suits music and call screens, landscape suits a navigation map, and on the LAXMOUNT that choice is made in the moment rather than being fixed when the mount was installed.

FlexiGrip adjustment lets the body flex and stay where it is put, so the screen can be tilted towards the driver, pushed forward for a clearer sightline, or angled down for a passenger. No locking collar or thumbscrew is involved, which means the angle can be corrected at a red light in seconds.

The supplied mounting kit fixes the holder to a windshield or a dashboard with an anti-slip base, so it does not creep across a surface as the car moves. Installation is quick and reliable rather than a fiddly bracket job, and the result keeps the phone in one predictable place every trip.

The mount weighs 97.5g, measures 66mm across and is only 12.9mm thick. Keeping the profile that slim is what stops the phone standing proud of the dashboard where it would block a sightline, and the low mass means the adhesive base is not fighting a heavy assembly on every corner.
