The Promate NOVON.BLUE is a wireless open-ear over-ear headphone set finished in blue, built around high-fidelity 40mm drivers and Bluetooth v6.0. A detachable high-sensitivity microphone handles voice, RGB circular ring lights with four modes wrap the cups, and playtime reaches 20 hours, or eight hours with the lighting on.

Both cups house a high-fidelity 40mm driver. A 40mm diaphragm moves considerably more air than an earbud driver, which is where the low-end weight in a full-size headphone comes from. Driver size is the specification worth checking first on any over-ear set, because nothing downstream compensates for a small one.

Wireless duty is handled by Bluetooth v6.0, ahead of the 5.x versions most headsets currently use. The gains from a newer Bluetooth revision show up as link stability and efficiency rather than new features, which is what keeps audio steady when you walk away from the source device.

The high-sensitivity microphone attaches when you need it and comes off entirely when you do not. That keeps one headset usable for gaming and meetings as well as for music in public, where a permanently fixed boom arm is the thing that stops people wearing a gaming headset outdoors.

Circular RGB ring lights sit on the outside of each cup and offer four modes. On camera the ring shape is the part that registers, which is why streaming headsets use it rather than a strip, and having four modes means you can pick a steady look instead of a permanent colour cycle.

Promate rates the NOVON at up to 20 hours of playtime, dropping to eight hours with RGB running. Quoting both numbers is the useful way to publish battery life on a lit headset, because the lighting is by far the biggest drain and you can plan a long session around switching it off.

Volume, playback and calls are driven from integrated controls on the headset. Reaching up to the cup is faster than finding a phone in a pocket or a window on a desktop, and it is the difference between muting yourself immediately on a call and fumbling for the right key.

The NOVON is an open-ear over-ear design rather than a sealed one. Open designs give up isolation in exchange for lower pressure and less listening fatigue across long sessions, and they leave you aware of the room, which matters if you work at home or game with people nearby.

This model is the NOVON.BLUE. The blue shell gives the headset a colour of its own before the RGB lighting is switched on, which is the reason to pick it over the plain black version if the headset is part of a desk setup that already has a palette.
