About this
DDR5 is the newer memory standard and offers higher speeds, improved bandwidth and better efficiency than DDR4. It is the better choice for a new gaming PC if your motherboard and CPU support it, particularly if you want a platform with more room for future upgrades.
DDR4 can still be a cost-effective option for compatible systems, especially when upgrading an existing PC. However, DDR4 and DDR5 are not interchangeable, so your motherboard determines which type of memory you can use.
