Which Stream Deck model should I buy?

Match the key count to your workflow. The 6-key Mini or 8-key Neo suit simple setups and a small set of shortcuts. The 15-key MK.2 is the best all-rounder for most streamers and creators. Choose the 32-key XL if you run complex multi-scene broadcasts or want every action visible at once, or the Stream Deck + if you need physical dials for audio and editing.

Do Stream Decks work with OBS and Streamlabs?

Yes. Every Elgato Stream Deck integrates natively with OBS Studio and Streamlabs through the free companion app on Windows and macOS. You can assign scene switches, source toggles, mutes, clip launches and multi-action macros to any key, plus hundreds of other plugins for Twitch, YouTube, Discord and more.

What is the difference between the Stream Deck MK.2 and XL?

The MK.2 has 15 LCD keys and is the standard choice for most creators. The XL has 32 keys for people who need far more one-touch actions on a single surface, such as busy multi-scene streams or heavy macro users. Both share the same software, so profiles and folders behave identically — the XL simply gives you more physical buttons and a larger footprint.

What can I use a Stream Deck for besides streaming?

Plenty. Beyond scene switching and mutes, a Stream Deck works as a productivity panel: launching apps, running scripts, pasting text snippets, joining calls, controlling smart lights, and mapping shortcuts in video editors and DAWs. Many people who never stream keep one on the desk purely for one-touch workflow control.

Does the Stream Deck + have dials?

Yes. The Stream Deck + adds four tactile dials and a touch strip above eight LCD keys. The dials give smooth real-time control over things like mic gain, headphone volume, OBS filter values, lighting brightness and video timeline scrubbing — useful when you need to adjust levels rather than just toggle actions on and off.

Can I add more actions than my Stream Deck has keys?

Yes. The companion software supports folders and multiple profiles, so any key can open a folder of more actions or switch to a different profile per app. This means even a 6-key Mini can hold far more than six commands, and you can build nested layouts organised by task.

Do you deliver Stream Decks across South Africa?

Yes. Evetech ships the full Elgato Stream Deck range nationwide across South Africa. Delivery timing depends on stock and your location, with fast turnaround to the major metros when the item is in stock. Check the product page for current availability.

Stream Decks & Streaming Controllers in South Africa

A Stream Deck is a panel of programmable LCD keys that trigger scene switches, mutes, clip launches, app shortcuts and multi-step macros with one press — so you run your stream, recording or workflow without hunting for hotkeys. Evetech stocks the full Elgato Stream Deck range in South Africa: the 6-key Mini and pocket-sized Neo for tight desks, the 15-key MK.2 as the everyday standard, the 32-key XL for creators who need every action on one surface, and the Stream Deck + with dials and a touch strip for audio and editing control. Each maps natively to OBS Studio, Streamlabs, Twitch, YouTube, Discord and hundreds more apps through the free companion software.

How to Choose a Stream Deck or Streaming Controller

Start with how many actions you press often and where the deck will live. More keys mean fewer folders to dig through, but they also take desk space and cost more — so match the key count to your real workflow rather than buying the biggest panel by default. Then think about whether you want physical dials for volume and editing, and confirm the apps you rely on are supported.

The Mini (6 keys) and Neo (8 keys) suit simple streams or a focused set of shortcuts. The MK.2 (15 keys) is the sweet spot for most streamers and creators. The XL (32 keys) fits busy multi-scene broadcasts, complex macro users and productivity power-users who want everything visible at once. Folders let any deck hold more actions than it has physical keys, so a smaller model still scales — you just tap into a folder to reach the extra buttons.

The Stream Deck + adds four tactile dials and a touch strip on top of eight LCD keys. The dials are ideal for real-time control of mic gain, headphone volume, OBS filters, lighting brightness or timeline scrubbing in video editors. If your workflow leans on smooth analogue adjustments rather than on/off toggles, the + is worth the step up over a key-only deck.

Every Stream Deck uses Elgato's free companion app, which integrates natively with OBS Studio, Streamlabs, Twitch, YouTube, Discord, Spotify, Philips Hue, Elgato Key Lights and hundreds of plugins. You assign a scene switch, mute, clip, hotkey, website launch or multi-action macro to any key, then customise icons and colours. Check that the specific tools you use — your capture software, chat bot or DAW — have plugins or hotkey support before you buy.

The Mini and Neo have the smallest footprint for cramped setups or a second-monitor gap. The MK.2 ships with a swappable faceplate and an adjustable stand. The XL needs meaningful desk real estate, so measure your space first. Optional arm mounts and stands free up the surface entirely if your desk is already crowded with mic, keyboard and monitor gear.

Live streamers gain instant scene switching, mutes and clip triggers without breaking eye contact with the game. Video and audio creators map editing shortcuts, timeline actions and mixer controls to speed up long sessions. Beyond content, the deck works as a general productivity panel — launching apps, running scripts, pasting text snippets, joining meetings or toggling lights — which is why plenty of non-streamers keep one on the desk.

The whole Elgato Stream Deck line shares the same companion software, so profiles, folders and multi-action macros work the same across every model. That means you can start on a Mini or MK.2 and move up later without relearning anything. Below are the factors worth weighing before you choose.
