Two families matter here. The HX parts use the same chiplet construction as desktop processors: 16 cores, 32 threads, a 55W base power that vendors raise to 75W or beyond, and only a token Radeon 610M for display output. The HX3D version adds 64MB of stacked cache to one of the two core dies, taking total L3 to 128MB. Alongside them sit the Ryzen AI 9 parts, single-piece designs with 12 cores and far stronger integrated graphics, aimed at slimmer bodies.
AMD's 2026 announcements landed on that second family rather than on the chiplet line, so a gaming laptop bought now may hold Zen 5 HX silicon or a Zen 4 refresh still selling in value models. Read the complete part number before drawing conclusions about which generation is in the box.
