Start with the body, not the processor. A Zenbook S built around a 14-inch OLED panel and a Vivobook 18 with a full numeric keypad can carry closely related Ryzen chips and still suit completely different people. Decide first whether you need portability, screen area, colour accuracy or gaming graphics, then look at what AMD parts each family offers in that shape.
The processor name still carries real information once you know how to read it. The Ryzen AI prefix marks the current generation with a full-size neural engine, the MAX and MAX+ parts are a separate class built around an unusually large integrated GPU, and plain numbered Ryzen chips in value machines are generally earlier silicon carried forward. All three appear on ASUS listings at the same time.
