What is the difference between the 14IAU7 and the 14ABR8?

The 14IAU7 runs 12th-generation Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 U-series chips. The 14ABR8 runs AMD Ryzen 3 7330U, Ryzen 5 7530U or Ryzen 7 7730U with Radeon graphics, and it adds a sharper 2240x1400 panel option alongside the standard 1920x1200 touchscreen.

Can I add RAM to one of these later?

No. The LPDDR4x memory is soldered and there is no expansion slot, so whichever capacity you order is permanent. The SSD is the only storage component you can service.

Which SSD physically fits?

The AMD 14ABR8 takes a single M.2 2242 card up to 1TB. The Intel 14IAU7 accepts either a 2242 drive up to 1TB or a 512GB 2280. Measure what is already fitted before ordering, because a 2280 card will not reach a 2242 mounting point.

How long does the 52.5Wh battery actually last?

Lenovo quotes roughly 10 hours on MobileMark and about 15 hours of video playback for the WUXGA configurations, falling to around 9 and 13 hours on the 2.2K panel. Touch input, high brightness and camera-on meetings pull all of those numbers down.

Is there a fingerprint reader and a camera shutter?

Both are fitted. The fingerprint sensor sits on the palm rest rather than in the power button, and the camera has a sliding physical cover. Camera resolution is 720p or 1080p depending on which build you choose.

Is 15W of processor enough for photo and light video editing?

A Ryzen 7 7730U or Core i7 build with 16GB moves through Lightroom catalogues and 1080p timelines at a working pace. These are low-power parts with integrated graphics, so 4K grading and long exports stay slow no matter which configuration you pick.

One Hinge, Four Working Positions

Laptop for typing, tent for a shared screen, stand for video and folded flat for pen work. The 14-inch body stays near 1.55 kg and 17.8 mm, so the folded position is a desk, lap or armrest proposition rather than a tablet you hold up one-handed.

Lenovo has built this convertible across several generations and the model code on the listing tells you which one you are looking at. The 14ALC05 and 14ITL05 use the older 16:9 Full HD panel, while the 14IAU7 and 14ABR8 moved to a 1920x1200 IPS touchscreen rated at 300 nits, which adds vertical room for documents and long web pages.

The 360-degree mechanism holds firm at any angle, which matters more in tent and stand modes than in tablet mode. Tent is the position most owners return to, because it brings the screen close on a small table without the keyboard taking up space. Folded flat at 1.55 kg is fine resting on something and tiring held in the air.

Current builds ship LPDDR4x-4266 soldered down with no SO-DIMM slot anywhere in the chassis. Lenovo offers 8GB and 16GB. Sixteen is the sensible figure if a browser, a video call and Office stay open together, because there is no route back to it afterwards.

A touchscreen means a reflective surface, and 300 nits is an indoor brightness rather than an outdoor one. Next to a window or on a patio you will see yourself more clearly than your document. The 2240x1400 option on the 14ABR8 sharpens text at the cost of roughly an hour of quoted runtime against the WUXGA panel.

Lenovo's Digital Pen with 4096 pressure levels is ordered with the machine, and some stock codes include it while others ship without. If handwriting or sketching is the reason a convertible appeals, confirm the pen on the exact code rather than assuming the hinge implies one.

You get two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A sockets, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 carrying DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 1.4b, a card reader and a headset jack. That HDMI revision caps an external screen well below what the USB-C output manages, so route a high-refresh or 4K monitor through USB-C. The 52.5Wh battery supports Rapid Charge Boost for a quick top-up between lectures.

Two decisions are locked at the till. Memory is soldered to the systemboard on every current generation, so 8GB stays 8GB for the life of the machine. Storage sits in a single M.2 2242 bay on the AMD models, a shorter card than the 2280 drives most desktops use, so check the length before ordering a replacement.
