Is there still an XPS 13 in the range?

Dell has said a 13-inch XPS returns later in 2026, after the XPS 14 and XPS 16 lead the relaunch. Until it arrives the 14-inch is the smallest model in the current family. Anything listed today as an XPS 13 is earlier-generation hardware rather than the new design.

What does the X mean in Core Ultra X7 and Core Ultra X9?

It marks the H-class Panther Lake parts carrying Intel's larger Arc graphics configuration, and they appear in the 16-inch rather than the 14-inch. The plain Core Ultra 5 and Core Ultra 7 chips use a smaller graphics allocation and a lower sustained power limit. The gap shows in GPU-bound work, not in documents or browsing.

Did the 2026 redesign keep the microSD card reader?

No. Dell removed it during the slimming exercise, alongside the discrete GPU option. Photographers who offload cards daily will want a USB-C card reader in the bag, which is a small annoyance rather than a reason to avoid the machine.

Should I worry about OLED burn-in with a fixed taskbar?

OLED panels can retain an image under very long exposure to static elements, which is why Windows dims and shifts interface furniture on these machines. For mixed daily use it is a manageable risk. If your screen displays the same application layout for eight hours a day, the IPS option removes the question entirely.

How does XPS compare with Dell Pro for work machines?

XPS is the consumer flagship, tuned around display quality, weight and finish. Dell Pro is the commercial line, built for fleet imaging, longer parts availability and business security controls. A freelancer or student is usually better served by XPS; an IT department buying fifty identical units is not.

Are the older XPS 15 and XPS 17 still worth considering?

Those model numbers ended before the rebrand and were built on much earlier Intel generations, but they were the last premium Dell laptops to carry discrete NVIDIA graphics. Where a new unit of an earlier generation is still listed, that graphics card is the reason to look. You are accepting an older platform, memory standard and battery in exchange.

How does the 2025 Dell 14 Premium relate to the XPS 14?

They are one product line under two names, a year apart. Dell 14 Premium was the 2025 replacement for the XPS 14, and the 2026 XPS 14 is its successor on Core Ultra Series 3 with the lighter chassis. When comparing listings, read Premium as the previous generation.

How quickly can an XPS reach me in South Africa?

Orders to Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban typically land within 1 to 3 business days, and regional addresses within 3 to 5. Collection from our Centurion warehouse is available. Stock status appears live on each product card, so an item marked in stock is on the shelf rather than on order.

The XPS Name Returns for 2026

Dell shelved the XPS badge in January 2025 and sold its flagship consumer laptops as Dell Premium for a single product cycle. At CES 2026 it reversed course: the Premium label is retired and the range is XPS again, opening with the XPS 14 and XPS 16, with an XPS 13 due later in the year.

The 2026 machines are built on Intel's Core Ultra Series 3 silicon with Arc integrated graphics, WUXGA IPS or OLED panels running at 120Hz, and soldered LPDDR5X memory reaching 64GB. Dell traded discrete graphics for weight, taking the 14-inch from about 1.7kg down to 1.4kg and the 16-inch from 2.3kg to 1.7kg.

Configurations reach South Africa in waves rather than all at once, so the mix on this page changes. Everything listed is new, carries local warranty and is supported by Evetech's own RMA team instead of an overseas returns process.

Choosing Between the XPS 14 and the XPS 16

Both 2026 models share an architecture and differ mainly in chip class, screen and battery. The 14-inch takes Core Ultra 5 and Core Ultra 7 parts, while the 16-inch takes the H-class Core Ultra X7 and X9 with Intel's larger Arc graphics allocation.

The Dell Premium name lasted one product cycle before being retired at CES 2026, returning the flagship consumer laptops to the XPS badge while Dell Pro continues to cover commercial machines. Latitude, Inspiron and Precision were not revived alongside it. XPS therefore stands alone at the top of Dell's consumer range.

Dropping discrete graphics let Dell shed roughly 300 grams from the 14-inch and 600 grams from the 16-inch. The 16-inch battery fell from 99.5Wh to 70Wh in the process, and the microSD reader went with it. Daily carriers gain a genuinely lighter machine; anyone who needs a full shift away from mains power should read the quoted watt-hour figure first.

Two options run across both sizes: a WUXGA IPS panel or an OLED, at 2.8K on the 14-inch and 3.2K on the 16-inch, all refreshing at 120Hz. The IPS versions can drop as low as 1Hz on static content to conserve power. OLED gives deeper blacks and cleaner colour separation for photo and video grading.

LPDDR5X memory is soldered to the board and tops out at 64GB, so the capacity you order is the capacity you keep. Storage reaches 4TB. Anyone cutting large video files or running several development environments at once should size memory generously at checkout rather than planning to add a module later.

Integrated Arc graphics handle photo editing, timeline scrubbing and everyday 3D viewports, but not sustained rendering or high-refresh gaming. If your work is GPU-bound, a mobile workstation or a laptop with a discrete NVIDIA GPU finishes the same job faster and usually for less money per unit of throughput.

Neither offers a discrete GPU this generation. That is the defining trade-off of the redesign, and it settles whether this range suits you or whether you need a machine built around a separate graphics card.
