Two things decide how a Ryzen and RTX 4050 laptop performs, and neither is printed in large type. The first is the 6GB frame buffer, which is comfortable at 1080p and starts limiting texture quality before the shader cores themselves run short of speed. The second is the power limit the manufacturer chose: NVIDIA allows this chip to be configured anywhere from 35W to 115W, with a further dynamic allocation borrowed from the processor, and the distance between those two ends is wide enough to change which settings are playable. A thin 35W implementation and a 115W gaming chassis share a GPU name and are not the same product.
